To a solution of 8-benzyl-6-hydroxy-2-(4-methyl-5-oxo-2,5-dihydrofuran-3-yl)-2,8-diazaspiro[4.5]decan-1-one (150 mg, 0.42 mmol) in MeOH (2 mL) was added palladium on carbon (45 mg, 0.42 mmol) and a few drops of HOAc. The mixture was allowed to stir under an atmosphere of hydrogen for 16 hours. LC indicated complete reaction. The catalyst was filtered off, and the crude material was used without further purification. LCMS: m/z 267 (M+H)+.
