To a solution of tert-butyl 4-(adamantan-1-ylmethoxy)-2-fluoro-5-(3-hydroxyoxetan-3-yl)benzoate ((330 mg, 0.76 mmol) in dichloromethane (4 mL) was added trifluoroacetic acid (1 mL) and the reaction mixture was stirred for 2 hour at ambient temperature. Removal of all volatiles in vacuo gave 4-(adamantan-1-ylmethoxy)-2-fluoro-5-(3-hydroxyoxetan-3-yl)benzoic acid as an oily residue (0.29 g, quant.).
