To a solution of tert-butyl 4-((2-cyanoadamantan-2-yl)methoxy)-5-cyclopropyl-2-fluorobenzoate (0.38 g, 0.88 mmol) in dichloromethane (30 mL) trifluoroacetic acid (10 mL) was added. The solution was stirred at ambient temperature for 16 hours and concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound as a pale yellow solid (0.33 g, quant.): 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 12.86 (br s, 1H), 7.31 (d, J=8.4 Hz, 1H), 7.09 (d, J=13.0 Hz, 1H), 4.45 (s, 2H), 2.16-1.78 (m, 11H), 1.70-1.60 (m, 4H), 0.90-0.84 (m, 2H), 0.60-0.55 (m, 2H); MS (ES−) m/z 468.2 (M−1).
