Procedure
A mixture of 1-benzhydrylazetidin-3-ol (500 mg, 2.08 mmol), tert-butyl 5-chloro-2,4-difluorobenzoate (568 mg, 2.29 mmol) and potassium tert-butoxide (349 mg, 3.12 mmol) in DMSO (30 mL) was stirred at 20° C. for 1 h. The mixture was quenched with water and extracted with EtOAc (30 mL×3). The combined organic layers were washed with brine, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated to get the target compound (700 mg, 72%) which was used in the next step without further purification. LCMS (ESI) m/z: 468.2 [M+H]+.
