1.00 g 5,7-dichloro-6-phenylpyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine (prepared as described above) were dissolved in 20 mL methanol and 20 mL dichlormethane. 1.2 g sodium methylate was added at 0° C. and stirred at room temperature for 2 h. The solution was diluted with water and dichloromethane. The organic phase was separated and the water phase was extracted with dichloromethane. The combined organic layers were dried over Na2SO4 and the solvent was evaporated. The crude product was used without further purification.
