Reaction Steps

To a solution of 2-(hydroxymethyl)-N-methyl-N-[2-(1,3-thiazol-2-yl)-1H-indol-7-yl]thiophene-3-sulfonamide (1.75 g) in acetonitrile (50 mL) was added Dess-Martin reagent (2.1 g). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 16 hr. Saturated aqueous sodium hydrogencarbonate solution was added, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The ethyl acetate layer was washed with saturated brine, dried (MgSO4) and concentrated. The residue was subjected to silica gel column chromatography (ethyl acetate:hexane=1:1) to give the title compound (790 mg, yield 46%) as pale-yellow crystals.
