To a solution of tert-butyl 3-(cyanomethyl)-3-(4-(7-(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)imidazo[1,2-c]pyrimidin-5-yl)-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)azetidine-1-carboxylate (400 mg; 0.764 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (5 mL) was added, in two equal portions, a solution of hydrogen chloride (31 mmol; 4M in 1,4-dioxane). The resulting suspension was stirred in a sealed vial for 2 days at ambient temperature. The solvent was evaporated under a stream of nitrogen and the resulting solid was dried under vacuum to give an off white solid (370 mg). MS (apci) m/z=424.1 (M+H).
