Following General Procedure F, 3-[4-(8-methoxy-4-oxo-4,5-dihydrothieno[2,3-c]quinolin-9-yl)phenyl]propanenitrile (45 mg, 0.13 mmol) was reacted with tribromoborane (3 mL) to afford the desired product (5.6 mg, 13%) as a white solid: 1H NMR (500 MHz, CD3OD) δ 7.53 (d, J=5.4 Hz, 1H), 7.48 (d, J=7.9 Hz, 2H), 7.39 (d, J=8.9 Hz, 1H), 7.28 (d, J=7.9 Hz, 2H), 7.16 (d, J=8.9 Hz, 1H), 5.96 (d, J=5.4 Hz, 1H), 3.10 (t, J=3.8 Hz, 2H), 2.89 (t, J=7.1 Hz, 2H); ESI MS m/z 347 [C20H14N2O2S+H]+; HPLC >99% (AUC), tR=10.99 min.
