Procedure
To a solution of ethyl 6-bromo-3-ethyl-isopropyl-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine-4-carboxylate (0.4 g, 1.176 mmol) in EtOH (7 mL), aqueous NaOH (0.062 g, 1.529 mmol in 1 mL water) was added and reaction mixture stirred at 60° C. for 1 h. After completion of the reaction, ethanol was removed under reduced pressure and it was acidified using 2N HCl and 10% citric acid solution. Solid obtained was filtered and azeotrope it with toluene to give the desired compound (0.3 g, 81.7%).
