Procedure

Raltegravir (10 gm), methanol (60 ml), acetonitrile (40 ml) and barium hydroxide (4.2 gm) were added at 25 to 30° C. The contents were heated to 60 to 65° C. to obtain a solution. The solution was cooled to 25 to 30° C. and stirred for 20 hours at 25 to 30° C. The solid obtained was collected by filtration and dried to obtain 10 gm of raltegravir barium.
