Raltegravir (50 gm) was suspended in ethanol (500 ml) and then added potassium hydroxide (8 gm) at 25 to 30° C. The reaction mass was stirred for 18 hours at 25 to 30° C. and filtered. The solid obtained was dried under vacuum at 60° C. for 9 hours to obtain 50 gm of raltegravir potassium crystalline form 1-11.
