To a solution of (2S,3R)-2-(4-bromophenoxy)-5-pyridin-3-ylpentan-3-ol (2.01 g, Example 15d)) in dry dichloromethane (50 ml) was added tert-butyldimethylsilyl chloride (1.81 g) and imidazole (0.814 g) and the resulting solution stirred for 24 hours, concentrated and the residue purified by column chromatography on silica gel eluting with dichloromethane:diethyl ether (1:1) to afford the sub-title compound as an oil (2.52 g).
