(3RS,4RS)-7-Methoxymethyloxy-3-[4-(methoxymethyloxy)phenyl]-3-methyl-4-[8-(4,4,5,5,5-pentafluoropentylthio)octyl]-2,3-dihydro-4H-benzopyran (120 mg, 0.19 mmol) and pyridinium p-toluenesulfonate (580 mg, 2.3 mmol) were dissolved in methanol (8 ml) and then refluxed for 7 hours. The reaction solution was cooled to room temperature and, after adding water, extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was separated, washed with water, dried over magnesium sulfate and then concentrated. The residue was subjected to column chromatography (n-hexane:ethyl acetate=4:1) to obtain 64 mg (yield: 69%) of the title compound as a colorless oil.
