Procedure
A mixture of the product of STEP 7 (0.5 g) in methanol (2 mL) and a solution of NaOH (1 g) in water (6 mL) was heated to reflux for 30 minutes. The mixture was cooled to 0° C., acidified to pH=4 and extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was dried over MgSO4 and concentrated in vacuo to provide the above product as a white solid.
