Procedure
0.375 g of a high silica MFI catalyst was packed into a fixed-bed-type reactor having an inner diameter of 10 mm. A mixture of cyclohexanone oxime and methanol (1:1.8 in ratio by weight) was vaporized and supplied to the reactor while using a nitrogen gas as a carrier, to conduct a gas phase Beckmann rearrangement reaction at 380° C. under 0.1 MPa with a space velocity (WHSV) of cyclohexanone oxime of 8 h−1. The reaction was continued for 20 hours, and the resulting reaction mixture was analyzed over time utilizing gas chromatography. The results (i.e., conversion of cyclohexanone oxime and selectivity to ε-caprolactam) are shown in the below Table 1 as the results obtained before regeneration of the catalyst.
