Crude 2-[1-(2-methoxy-ethyl)-piperidin-4-ylamino]-6-oxo-6,7-dihydro-5H-pyrrolo[3,2-d]pyrimidine-7-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester, acetate salts (7, 785 mgs, ˜1.5 mmol) was stirred in neat TFA for 30 min at room temperature. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo. The resulting residue was suspended in toluene and reconcentrated in vacuo to remove residual TFA, then dried under high vacuum for several hours to give 2-[1-(2-methoxy-ethyl)-piperidin-4-ylamino]-5,7-dihydro-pyrrolo[3,2-d]pyrimidin-6-one (8, 1.1 g, ˜1.5 mmol) as a mixture of TFA salts which was used in the next reaction without further purification. LC/MS Calcd for [M+H]+ 292, found 292.
