Procedure

A solution of 167 mg (0.35 mmol) 2-5 in 25 mL MeOH was evacuated under reduced pressure and purged with nitrogen three times before 20 mg of 10% palladium on carbon was added. The resulting mixture was evacuated and purged twice more with nitrogen and then three times with hydrogen. The reaction was stirred for 17 h at ambient temperature under an atmosphere of hydrogen, filtered, and concentrated to give 2-6 as a gum. LC-MS: peak at rt=1.7 min, m/z=390 (M+1).
