1-(3-chloropyridin-2-yl)-3,5-dimethylpiperazine (370 mg, 1.644 mmol) was dissolved in anhydrous dichloromethane (6 mL) added with 3,4-dichlorobenzene sulfonyl chloride (509 mg, 1.97 mmol) and diisopropylethylamine (0.72 mL, 4.11 mmol). The reaction mixture thus prepared was stirred overnight at room temperature. The reaction was complete as determined by TLC. It was purified via flush column chromatography to afford 4-(3-chloropyridin-2-yl)-1-[(3,4-dichlorophenyl)sulfonyl]-2,6-dimethylpiperazin in 13% yield (110 mg) as a sticky solid.
