Reaction Steps

To a RT mixture of Dess-Martin periodane (1.69 g, 3.99 mmol) in DCM (50 mL) was added 3-(4-methoxy-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridin-1-yl)-3-phenyl-propan-1-ol (563 mg, 2.0 mmol). The reaction was stirred at RT for 2 h and then poured in a saturated solution of NaHCO3. The organic layer was separated, and the aqueous was extracted with a mixture DCM/EtOAc (2/1). The combined organic layers were dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated to give 3-(4-Methoxy-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridin-1-yl)-3-phenyl-propionaldeyde, which was used in the next step without further purification.
