Reaction Steps
γ-Tocotrienol (crude product, prepared in accordance with Example 3, 4.8 g) was heated with 10 ml of acetic anhydride for 3.5 h under reflux and then freed from acetic acid and acetic anhydride under reduced pressure. Flash chromatography of the crude product with ethyl acetate/heptane as eluent on silica gel gave 3.7 g of γ-tocotrienol acetate.
