Reaction Steps
Sodium hydride (9 g, 0.24 mol as 60% wt. disp. mineral oil) was added to a solution of the phenol from Step C (36.1 g, 204 mmol) in 400 mL of dry DMF at room temperature. Iodomethane was added (14 mL. 0.22 mol) was added, and the reaction was stirred for 2 hours. The mixture was poured into EtOAc/water, and the organic layer was washed with water and brine (4x), dried (Na2SO4), and concentrated in vacuo to provide the titled product (37.6 g, 96% yield).
