2,2,2-trifluoro-1-(2-fluoro-3-piperidin-4-ylphenyl)ethanone (0.045 g, 0.16 mmol) was dissolved in ethanol (10 ml) and sodium borohydride (0.026 g, 0.064 mmol) was added. The resulting mixture was stirred for 24 h, after which aqueous sodium carbonate (10%, 20 ml) was added. The aqueous phase was extracted with ethylacetate (3×20 ml) and the combined organic phases was dried (MgSO4), filtered and evaporated to dryness. Yield: 0.03 g. MS m/z (rel. intensity, 70 eV) 277 (M+, 87), 276 (69), 178 (14), 103 (19), 56 (bp).
