TFA (3 mL) was added to a cooled solution of (E)-tert-butyl 3-(3,3-dimethyl-4-oxo-2,3,4,5-tetrahydropyrido[3,2-b][1,4]oxazepin-8-yl)acrylate (1 g, 3 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (5 mL) and stirred for 30 min at rt. The mixture was evaporated and HCl/dioxane (4M, 5 mL) was added. The precipitate that formed was washed with ether and dried to afford the title compound (530 mg, 66%). 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 8.45 (s, 1H), 8.28 (s, 1H), 7.82 (d, J=15.5 Hz, 1H), 6.84 (d, J=20 Hz, 1H), 4.05 (s, 2H), 1.47 (s, 6H).
