Reaction Steps
Using NaBH4 reduction conditions, tert-butyl 4-(2-oxoethoxy)-4-(pyridin-3-yl)piperidine-1-carboxylate (2 g, 6.3 mmol) was reduced to give tert-butyl 4-(2-hydroxyethoxy)-4-(pyridin-3-yl)piperidine-1-carboxylate. The crude product was filtered over silica gel. Yield: 70%.
