Procedure
A mixture of 2-chloroquinoline (10.00 g, 0.061 mol), N-acetylethylenediamine (6.24 g, 0.061 mol), sodium carbonate (6.48 g, 0.061 mol), and 3-methyl-1-butanol (125 mL) was heated under reflux for 3 days. The mixture was cooled, filtered, and the filtrate was concentrated to give 16.3 g (>100%) of a yellow oil. Purification by flash chromatography (eluent 5% MeOH/CHCl3 ; 10% MeOH/1% Et3N/CHCl3) gave 6.8 g (49%) of a yellow oil.
