Procedure

10 g of (S)-N-[(S)-1-(ethoxycarbonyl)butyl]alanine are placed in 100 ml of 28% strength aqueous ammonia solution at 100° C. for 18 hours. After evaporation of the solvent, the residue is taken up with 50 ml of water. The solution is evaporated to dryness, then taken up with 100 ml of isopropanol and evaporated. The expected product is obtained after drying under vacuum.
