Procedure

Following the procedure as described in Example 12, making variations only as required to use 4-(benzyloxy)pyridin-2(1H)-one in place of 4-phenylpyridin-2-ol to react with ethyl 2-bromo-4-methyl-1H-imidazole-5-carboxylate in place of ethyl 2-bromo-4-methylthiazole-5-carboxylate at 130° C. for 64 hours, the title compound was obtained as a colorless solid in 26% yield: mp 135-136° C.; 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ 12.01 (s, 1H), 8.60-8.50 (m, 1H), 7.44-7.36 (m, 5H), 6.21 (dd, J=8.0, 2.6 Hz, 1H), 6.04 (d, J=2.6 Hz, 1H), 5.06 (s, 2H), 4.44-4.29 (m, 2H), 2.59-2.51 (m, 3H), 1.44-1.34 (m, 3H); MS (ES+) m/z 354.2 (M+1).
