Procedure

The mixture of 3-[1-(ethylsulfonyl)-4-piperidinyl]-5-(2-fluorophenyl)-1H-indazole-7-carbonitrile (Intermediate 12) (0.102 mmols) and potassium hydroxide (26 mg, 0.51 mmol) in 2-methyl-2-propanol (4 mL) was heated overnight. The reaction mixture was concentrated. The residue was purified by using a Gilson semi-preparative HPLC system, eluting with 10% B to 80% B, where A=H2O (0.1% trifluoroacetic acid) and B=CH3CN (0.1% trifluoroacetic acid) pumped at 25 mL/min to afford the title compound (11 mg, 25% for 2 steps)
