To a solution of 6-ethyl-3-[2-(4-fluorophenyl)-2-oxoethyl]-1-{[2′-(5-oxo-4,5-dihydro-1,2,4-oxadiazol-3-yl)biphenyl-4-yl]methyl}thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione (0.5 g) in CHCl3-methanol (1:1, 30 mL) was added NaBH4 (0.039 g) at room temperature, and the mixture was stirred overnight. The reaction mixture was concentrated, water was added and the mixture was adjusted to pH 5-6 with 1N hydrochloric acid and water, extracted with ethyl acetate, and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography to give the object compound (0.50 g, 100%).
