6-(Benzyloxy)-N2-phenylpyridine-2,3-diamine (60 mg, 0.21 mmol) was dissolved in trimethyl orthformate (5.0 mL), and TFA (10 μL) was added. The mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by preparative HPLC to give the title compound as a red solid (58 mg). 1H NMR (500 MHz, CDCl3) δ ppm 5.40 (s, 2H), 7.15 (d, J=9.0 Hz, 1H), 7.31-7.42 (m, 5H), 7.62-7.72 (m, 5H), 8.32 (d, J=9.0 Hz, 1H), 9.25 (s, 1H).
