Hydrazine monohydrate (636 mg, 10.8 mmol) was added to a solution of 2-(1-(4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenylsulfonyl)piperidin-4-yloxy)isoindoline-1,3-dione (4.23 g, 9.00 mmol) in ethanol (40 ml) and stirred at 50° C. for 2 hours. The resulting solid was filtered off and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was triturated with diethyl ether (80 ml), and the resulting solid was filtered off again and concentrated in vacuo to give O-(1-(4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenylsulfonyl)piperidin-4-yl)hydroxylamine (2.63 g, 86%) as a white solid: LCMS: 341 [M+1]+.
