Reaction Steps

To 5-nitro-2-(4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenyl)benzo[d]oxazole (850 mg, 2.62 mmol) in ethanol (20 mL) was added ammonium formate (827 mg, 13.1 mmol) and palladium on carbon (85 mg). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 20 min, then filtrated through a pad of Celite®, and washed with ethyl acetate. The organic solution was washed with water, followed by brine. The combined organic layers were dried over anhydrous MgSO4 and evaporated to afford 434 mg (56%) of the title compound (LCMS RT=6.51 min, MH+ 294.9)
