Into a 100 mL round-bottom flask, was placed a solution of benzyl 4-(2-(tert-butyldimethylsilyl)thiazol-5-yl)-4-hydroxypiperidine-1-carboxylate (as prepared in the previous step) (3 g, 6.94 mmol, 1.00 equiv) in methanol (20 mL) and Palladium carbon (0.3 g). Hydrogen was introduced into the above mixture. Under H2 atmosphere, the resulting solution was stirred overnight at 50° C. in an oil bath. The solids were filtered out. The resulting mixture was concentrated under vacuum. The title compound was obtained as a white solid.
