Reaction Steps

To a mixture of methanol (1.5 g) and morpholine (1 g) are added BHT (4 mg) and crude pentamycin (500 mg; chemical purity: 80.6%; pentamycin content: 80%; imp rrt=0.83:8.0%; imp rrt=1.54:7.0%). The mixture is stirred at room temperature for 3 days. The crystals are filtered, washed with methanol (2 times 1 ml) and dried under reduced pressure to yield flake-shaped pentamycin-morpholine solvate (327 mg; chemical purity: 90.9%; pentamycin content: 82%; imp rrt=0.83:4.3%; imp rrt=1.54:3.0%) containing pentamycin and morpholine in a 1:1 molar ratio.
