5.1 g of 7-(n-Butyl)-3-[(4-acetylaminophenyl)-sulfonyl]-9,9-dimethyl-3,7-diazabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane (for preparation see Example 2) and 1.5 g of potassium hydroxide were refluxed for 6 hours in 100 ml of ethanol. The reaction mixture was then cooled, water was added, and the mixture was extracted twice with diethyl ether. The combined ether extracts were dried with magnesium sulfate and concentrated. 4.0 g of 7-(n-butyl)-3-[(4-aminophenyl)-sulfonyl]-9,9-dimethyl-3,7-diazabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane were obtained, which were employed in the following reaction step without further purification.
