To a suspension of 1-(4-fluoro-2-nitrophenyl)-3-heptylurea (1.49 g) in ethanol (10 ml) was added a catalytic amount of 10% palladium/carbon to perform catalytic reduction at a pressure of 1-2.5 atms at room temperature for 5 hrs. The catalyst was filtered off, and the solvent was distilled off. Crystallization of the residue from hexane gave 1-(2-amino-4-fluorophenyl)-3-heptylurea (1.26 g, 95%).
