Reaction Steps
To a solution of 4-(3-furyl)-7-(5-phenyl-3-fluorophenylthio)coumarin (Example 17) (106 mg) in CHCl3 (3 mL) was added m-CPBA (88 mg; 50%). After 2 h, CH2Cl2 was added and the resulting solution was washed with 10% aq. NaHSO3, saturated aq. NaHCO3, dried (MgSO4) and concentrated. Chromatography of the residue (silica gel; hexane/EtOAc (7:3)) provided the title compound as a solid.
