A procedure similar to that described in Preparation 11 was repeated, except that 2.06 g of 1(S)-(3-chlorophenoxymethyl)-2-[2-t-butyldimethylsilyloxy-1(S)-methylethylamino]ethanol (prepared as described in Preparation 38), 1.07 g of N,N'-carbonyldiimidazole and 20 ml of anhydrous dimethylformamide were used, to give 2.11 g of the title compound having an Rf value of 0.18 (on silica gel thin layer chromatography, using a 1:4 by volume mixture of ethyl acetate and hexane as the developing solvent) and having [α]D =+51.7° (methanol, c=1.03).
