Procedure
5-Methoxy-2-methyl-1-[(4-pyridyl)methyl]-1H-indole-3-acetic acid hydrazide. Using the method described in Example 1, Part G, 410 mg (1.2 mmol) of 5-methoxy-2-methyl-1-[(4-pyridyl)methyl]-1H-indole-3-acetic acid ethyl ester was reacted with 1.2 mL of hydrazine to give on crystallization from MeOH 148 mg (38% yield) of 5-methoxy-2-methyl-1-[(4-pyridyl)methyl]-1H-indole-3-acetic acid hydrazide, mp, 192°-193.5° C.
