Procedure
A solution of 4-chloro-l-(2-methylpropyl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-c]quinoline (0.86 g) in 7 g of a methanol solution containing 20% by weight of ammonia was placed in a steel bomb for 20 h at 150° C. After cooling to 20° C., the solid formed was collected by filtration and washed with methanol. The crude product 1-(2-methylpropyl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-c]quinolin-4-amine was recystallized from N,N-dimethylformamide.
