By a method similar to the procedure of Example 2, a reaction of 2,4-dichlorobenzaldehyde chlorooxime and 3-methylenephthalide was carried out. The solid collected from the reaction mixture afforded 12.2 g of the desired product after workup, and the ether solution gave 4 g of the desired product (yield 70.2%). Recrystallization from chloroform led to pure white crystals of the desired product, m.p. 158°-161° C.
