Reaction Steps
A mixture of 3.8 parts of 2,3-dihydro-7-methylimidazo[2,1-b]benzothiazol, 11 parts of (2-bromoethyl)benzene and 40 parts of acetonitrile is stirred and refluxed for 8 hours. After cooling, the precipitated product is filtered off and dried, yielding 6 parts of 2,3-dihydro-7-methyl-1-(2-phenylethyl)imidazo[2,1-b]benzothiazolium bromide; mp. 150.6° C.
