The procedure described in Example 11 is followed, but additionally 0.5 part of zinc-II acetate is included in the reaction mixture. Analysis by gas chromatography shows that within the same period of time 94% of the n-hexyl carbamate are converted and 20.3 parts of di-n-hexyl carbonate (93.9% of theory, based on converted n-hexyl carbamate), of boiling point 122°-124° C./4 mbar have been formed.
