4.15 g. 4-Propoxyphenyl glycidyl ether and 6.6 g. N-(2,6-dimethylphenyl)-ethylenediamine are left to stand for 3 days at ambient temperature and the reaction mixture then separated by ion exchange chromatography in the manner described in Example 5. There are obtained 4.3 g. (58% of theory) of the desired product in the form of colorless crystals; m.p. 51°-54° C. The corresponding neutral fumarate, after recrystallization from ethanol, melts at 168°-169° C.
