5-[(Formyl)methylamino]5,8-dihydro-8-oxo-1,3-dioxolo[4,5-g]-quinoline-7-carboxylic acid [V; R is CH3, R" is H] was prepared by heating ethyl 5,8-dihydro-5-[(formyl)methylamino]-8-oxo-1,3-dioxolo[4,5-g]quinoline-7-carboxylate (Example 6) with formic acid according to the procedure of Example 4, and was obtained in the form of colorless plates, m.p. above 330° C. when precipitated from a solution of its potassium salt by addition of acetic acid.
