Treatment of 3.53 g. (15 moles) of 1-bromo-5,5-dimethyl-trans-1-octen-3-ol (Example 1177) with 4.85 g. (15 moles) of triphenylmethyl bromide in 35 ml. of pyridine and purification of Florisil®, all as described in Example 728 gives the title compound.
