Procedure

The product of Example 34 was dissolved in 0.2 ml of a molar solution of sodium acetate in methanol and 0.4 ml of ethanol was slowly added thereto. The mixture was vacuum filtered and the filtrate was evaporated to dryness under reduced pressure. The residue was taken up in ethanol and after efflorescence, the mixture was vacuum filtered to obtain 0.047 g of the syn isomer of sodium 3-acetoxymethyl-7-[2-(2-amino-4-thiazolyl)-2-(2-aminoethoxyimino)-acetamido]-ceph-3-eme-4-carboxylate.
