Procedure

A solution of ethyl [[[3-(cyanomethyl)-1H-indol-5-yl]amino]thiocarbonyl]carbamate (0.5 g) in 2N sodium hydroxide (3 ml) and ethanol (10 ml) was stirred at 40° C. for 2 h. The resulting precipitate was filtered off, triturated with water (40 ml), washed with ethanol (ca. 30 ml) and dried in vacuo to give the title compound as a white solid. (0.25 g) m.p. 212°-214°C.
