Reaction Steps
A mixture of 16 g of 2,3,4,5-tetrafluorobenzoylacetonitrile, 15.6 g of trimethyl o-formate and 18.8 g of acetic anhydride is heated at 150° C. (bath temperature) for 3 hours. The solvent mixture is distilled off completely under a waterpump vacuum and finally under a high vacuum, at a bath temperature of 120° C. 18.2 g of 2-(2,3,4,5-tetrafluorobenzoyl)-3-methoxy-acrylonitrile are obtained as a dark brown oil.
