A suspension of 4H-quinolizin-4-one-3-carboxylic acid (196.7 mg) in 0.1N-aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (9.9 ml) was stirred for one hour at room temperature. The resulting reaction mixture was filtered and then the filtrate was lyophilized to give sodium 4H-quinolizin-4-one-3-carboxylate (201 mg).
